Want the original line on top and a translation below while you watch your own library? Jellyfin's web player can already show a second subtitle in some cases, Emby shows one. Lalea plays your Jellyfin or Emby library with two lines, lets you tap any word to see what it means, and turns the words you save into a short daily review.

Jellyfin. The web player has a secondary subtitle option, added for version 10.9 (jellyfin-web #3906). Its limits, as described there: external text subtitles only - not tracks embedded in the file, not ASS/SSA - two tracks at most, and the choice is not saved after playback. Other Jellyfin apps, such as those for TVs, vary.
Emby. As of October 2026, Emby players show one subtitle track at a time. The common advice on the Emby forum is a single subtitle file that already contains both languages.
If two lines in the browser are all you need and your subtitles are external .srt files, Jellyfin's own option may be enough. Lalea is for when you want to learn from what you watch: tap words, keep them with their scene and review them.
Lalea has an app for Android TV and Google TV. Or keep the Jellyfin or Emby app on the TV and open Lalea's second screen on your phone: it shows the current line and its translation in time with the film, and every word can be tapped. For any player that shows one track, the free dual subtitle maker joins two languages into one .srt file.
No, Lalea never uploads or stores your films. Video plays from your server to your browser. When your browser cannot reach the server directly, the stream passes through Lalea's server without being stored.
